How you can help

Free Film Festivals is completely run by volunteers. Here are just a few of the ways to get involved. Simply contact us to find out more.

Spread the word. Join our emailing list and become a Free Film Festivals champion. Tell everyone you know – you can't beat word of mouth.

Stewards. Could you wear a stylish yellow vest and help guide people at our larger events?

Leafleting. Have you the time to pound your local streets for an hour or two distributing leaflets and posters with us?

Surveys. Could you get people to fill in a short survey at our events? Evaluating our events helps us get funding for next year.

Press. Do you have experience of writing press releases and/or contacting journalists? We need your help to get famous.

Event planning. Could you help co-ordinate an event - everything from venue, licenses, catering, stewards, publicity?

Website. Familiar with content management systems? Help to keep our fabulous website up-to-date. It’s Joomla (in case you’re wondering).

Social media. Do you Tweet? Could you help keep our Twitter and Facebook feeds up-to-date?

Fundraising. Do you have experience of sourcing and applying for grants from charitable trusts and other sources? We love you, get in touch now.

Projection. Interested in getting your hands on our super duper new projector and PA system? Bought with a grant from the lovely Grassroots Grants trust.

Photography. Could you take pictures are some of our events? For publicity, for posterity.

Filmmakers. Could you take film at our events or help run workshops for young people who want to develop filmmaking skills?

And if there's any other way you'd like to help please just let us know - for example, if anyone can provide free portable toilets?!

thumb_IMG_3673Would you like to start a Free Film Festival in your area?

If you're thinking of starting a Free Film Festival, or running a free film event, we'd love to hear from you.

We would be pleased to share ideas on event planning, funding, publicity and any other topics you might like to discuss.

Download our 2010 Festival round-up to find out more about how the festivals are planned.

"Just wanted to say thank you for putting on the festival!"

This website has the potential to be used by other free film festivals anywhere in the UK. So why not get in touch and become part of the Free Film Festivals movement.

Organising a film screening is easy but there are a few key things to bear in mind. In particular, you must buy a licence from the film's distributor to screen the film, even if you are not charging entry. But this is not difficult and we'd be happy to help you.

thumb_Mother_India_2And if you'd like to volunteer your time or expertise to help run Free Film Festivals in 2011 please do contact us.

"I hope you're able to run the festival again!"
